Mary Lisa is our new Visitation Associate. She started the week of March 14th and will transition into the full ten hours in June. Her main duties will be visitation and working with the Deacons. Mary Lisa, and her daughter Theresa, joined Westminster in July of 2011. Mary Lisa has been an active member serving in many areas. Her greatest leadership role has been as the chair of our Christmas Day Dinner for the past several years. Mary Lisa also has served in many roles at Westminster such as an elder, chair of the Mission Committee, is a member of Church Bookies, and typically takes the lead in arts and crafts for Vacation Bible School. Currently Mary Lisa is an art teacher in the Waterloo schools. While she has enjoyed teaching for the past 20 years, Mary Lisa has another career passion relating to social gerontology. She received her first BA from Iowa State which included a significant focus in social gerontology. While working as a social worker for the Black Hawk Grundy Mental Health Center, Mary Lisa completed Des Moines Area Community College’s Health Service Management program which focuses on services for older adults. As Mary Lisa is transitioning into semi-retirement, she very much looks forward to serving the Westminster congregation as the Visitation Associate.
